After applying for the FAFSA, I decided to go for it and got the Stafford Loan and qualified for the unsubsidized one. With the new law, I was able to request $2000 more so I ended up with $7500 in my stafford loan. I was still in need of more money so i applied for and was rejected for private education loans from 5 or 6 different places, because of no credit history and because I didnt have a cosigner. In the end, my parents decided they'd just go ahead and get the PLUS loan, which is what we did. It was definetly a long, stressful road, but I think it's come together thus far. I just have to double check to make sure my finances are in order before school actually starts at the end of the month.

@JR -- thanks for sharing your experience with us. It's often a tough call deciding which route to go for college financing -- I'm glad you came to a solution that's working for you.
