Just so you know, Guided By History is going to look a little different soon. We're changing our art — the online look and feel, the stuff on the right, access to older posts, and searchability. All that stuff.
Don't worry, though. We'll still be doing the same kinds of posts about Wells Fargo's history and the histories from the thousands of Wells Fargo communities.
And we'll still feature the charm and sparkling wit of our many History bloggers. Especially me.
Anyway, if you could take a minute to give us your feedback in this poll, we'd be much obliged. Thanks everyone!
What would you like to see more of on the blog?

Richard,
Thanks for your question about stagecoaches across Oregon. Dr. Robert Hadlow, Senior Historian at the Oregon Department of Transporation, found some information to answer your question about Down's Station. The book Oregon Geographic Names shows an entry for Downs in Marion County:
"This was a station about two miles north of Silverton. It was named for James Down, native of Saltash, Devonshire, England. He was born in 1835, came to the United States during the Civil War, and settled in Oregon in 1864. He engaged in the hop and grain business. He died May 28, 1898. See Down's A History of the Silverton Country, chapter xxii."
