Island Hopping Update

We've all been buzzing about the hot spots of Olympic Valley, so I decided to give a little update on our other sweet little neighborhoods.

In Desert Hollow, there is a beautiful castle built by Scorpio that has an awesome garden in the back with a horse pasture and some stunning water displays! Sadly, the castle is currently closed to visitors, so the inside remains a mystery — I guess we'll all have to wait for the grand opening to take a peek!

There's also a cute little Isla Del Sol bank built by a fellow islander — swing by and see for yourself!

Any other updates? Share with everyone!

Super Fly Oscars Party — It's A Wrap!

Wow! I had an awesome time seeing everyone get dolled up to attend our Oscars Red Carpet Event! (GCK was bustling with shoppers!) Theonetruegod did an absolutely crazy good job in bringing one of the most lavishly decorated theaters to the island, not to mention his amazing ice maze!

Many people also predicted that Juno will win for "Best Picture." The Academy Awards show is this Sunday — what are your guesses?

We've got lots of great events coming up so don't miss out! A BIG thanks to everyone who came out and celebrated with us at the island glitz and glam Red Carpet Event! Party on!

In celebration of Black History Month Click here to learn about third-party website links, I wanted to note some super duper famous African Americans that helped build and make our history!

Like Harriet Tubman Click here to learn about third-party website links, who led black slaves to freedom through the Underground Railroad Click here to learn about third-party website links and by following the Big Dipper Click here to learn about third-party website links.  And Rosa Parks Click here to learn about third-party website links, who refused to give up her seat and sit in the back of the bus. By standing up for what she believed in, she helped launch the Civil Rights Movement Click here to learn about third-party website links and changed history.

Booker T. Washington Click here to learn about third-party website links and Frederick Douglass Click here to learn about third-party website links were both born slaves, but they became prominent figures in Black history.  Mr. Washington founded Tuskegee University Click here to learn about third-party website links, and was an important spokesperson for African Americans. Mr. Douglass was an author Click here to learn about third-party website links, American statesman and reformer – his work for the equality of all people led him to be one of the greatest abolitionists Click here to learn about third-party website links of his time!

Those are just a *few* of the many great Black Americans who have given so much to our country. They fought for freedom and equality — not just for African Americans, but for us all. Let's take some time to remember all that they've done! Click here to learn about third-party website links

Theonetruegod has built an awesome (and highly difficult) maze that's just so puzzling I can't even tell you. You're just going to have to visit it and see for yourself — it rocks!

The doors all look the same, and there are SO many of them everywhere! It's like a B-grade Click here to learn about third-party website links horror flick — I was in there for quite some time trying to find my way out, walking into all these "different" places and getting nowhere. Finally I got dizzy from all the attempts in vain and started flying up and down trying to find some secret door. And well, I didn't find it. Hopefully you'll be luckier than me!

Check it out at: 49S 66W and pack some snacks — you'll be there for awhile!

A Note from the Engine Room

Islanders: Please see the note below from one of our favorite community site engineers, SpecialEd.

Hello Islanders! This is SpecialEd, a sometimes Stagecoach Island visitor. You don't see me very often — I'm normally working below deck with a team of mechanics on this big ship we call the Stagecoach Island Community site. We're here cranking away, working to keep you all up to speed with Cassie and all of the in-world happenings.

Lately I've been down in the engine room a bit more than I'd like. We noticed that some of your comments were disappearing — definitely not a good thing! The Island is all about you connecting with each other and our hosts, so we feel terrible that glitches have deleted some of your voices from the site.

But...we have a PLAN! Our top engineers (they even have pocket protectors Click here to learn about third-party website links) now know what the problem is and have a plan to fix it. The good news is we'll be able to restore things before long so we won't leak any more comments. The bad news is some of the lost comments are gone for good, buried at sea. For that, my team sincerely apologizes — so call off that shark!

Please stick with us! If you find a blog post that you contributed to, and your comment is missing, let us know — and by all means, submit it again if you can. We promise to be ship shape soon!

Please call off the shark! (click for larger image in a new window)

Bananas Making A Comeback!

Move over apples, bananas Click here to learn about third-party website links are back to stay! I know — sounds weird, but the rumor is that bananas are basically going to be the fruit this year. There are even websites dedicated to the banana Click here to learn about third-party website links! It's one of the healthiest fruits and is packed full of vitamins and minerals…yum! In fact, the average banana has about 600 mg of potassium, unlike the virtual one sitting on the couch in the Welcome Center café!

You must be thinking, "Why the heck is Cassie talking about bananas?" Well, it's a clever lead in (or not!) to the Oscars Click here to learn about third-party website links. It makes me icky just thinking about all those Hollywood stars trying this diet and that diet, all to fit into a dress two sizes too small. If it were me, I'd eat a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables (plus cupcakes of course) — and lots of bananas since they're so good for you!

What fruit is sweeping you off your feet this year? Is it the trendy banana that's showing up in the New Year or something else? Share, share!

Royally Yours

While Kai and I were hanging out over the weekend, we found (according to Lostpoet) RandyLH's castle in Isla Del Sol. It has an extravagant Taj Mahal Click here to learn about third-party website links look on the outside and it's even more decked out on the inside!

Inside there's a throne that belongs to Rudolph the Third, and a gal that's floating on her magic carpet. Check out the pictures below and see for yourself!

Also, Sara242's one-month reign as the Island talk show host is up — so whoever's the new talk show host and needs a studio, send her a tele and she'll hook you up with hers!

P.S. Don't forget to check out the new monthly guy and gal item on sale at the GCK boutique!

The Mushroom Rail Station

Today I saw one of the cutest things ever on the island! It's a train station, but not just ANY train station...it's one that's run by mushroom people! They're so cute and stubby that it makes me want to just hug them &mdash not to mention they're totally rocking adorable mushroom hats!

Check out the photos below to believe it — RandyLH really put together some creativity for this one!

So if you ever need to hitch a train ride in Isla Del Sol, go to the mushroom station platform at 154S 98W and hop on!

About me:

On quiet afternoons on the island, I find new islanders and show them around. Almost every Friday night some friends that I've had for years meet up with me, and we can chat for hours without getting bored. I enjoy "Simming" homes, so drop me a gram if you'd like any help on a build!

Best Island Memory:

I can remember my first journey around the island like it was yesterday. It was on June 21, 2007, I met so many friendly islanders that day who showed me all of the important locations. Very few of them still come online, but I've also made many new friends through the years of being a Stagecoach citizen.
