Cupcake Hour!

Send a comment to Cassie

It was awesome seeing everyone, and I hope each islander got a cupcake! Everyone was just having a blast until someone started a food fight. I can't say who trashed my house, but his name sounds a lot like "White Wave." (*ahem*)

But aside from the fact that I got drenched in frosting, it was a lot of fun! I'm currently accepting volunteers to come and help clean up the mess that "White Wave"…er, I mean someone made in my home! (Oh, you know I'm just kidding — that's just to get back at you for pranking me with lostpoet the other day.)

Anyhow, Kory17 is graduating, and we should definitely throw a summer bash to help him celebrate and kick off his college days!

Any ideas on when and where?

P.S. For your amusement, I was punk'd by lostpoet again. While I was trapped, they (Cbow, White and lostpoet) took some pics that I'm sure will be showing up on MySpace soon. Oh joy. Thanks for the love!

Decipher the Island Mystery!

There's been something strange and bizarre about the location of 6N 48W. I mean, the fact that the house's roof has a lake with a boat in it seems a bit strange doesn't it?

Maybe, just MAYBE, there's something more to this place than meets the eye…

If you've found something special there, let us know! I've been hearing some rumors here and there about a little eerie-ness going on, like there's something lost, and it needs to be found (*hint hint*). Brice can give you a hint if you need a clue — he seems to know a little bit about what's happening, on the down low.

Maybe YOU can find out what the "it" is and solve the mystery!

In The Interview Room With Shag

If you haven't had a chance to read the Olympic Valley Gazette, you might want to check it out! In the meantime, we got to interview the mastermind behind this awesome paper — our very own islander Shag!

You can probably tell by its name that the Gazette keeps track of all the newest happenings of Olympic Valley. "I like writing about new things in OV," Shag explains. "I loved OV so I decided to make a community site for Olympic Valley."

As far as making the paper bigger, he replies, "No one else works for the Gazette. I do all the work. But I hope to get a couple more people if the paper expands." When asked about his vision for the future of the Gazette, he tells us: "I've been making changes to the site lately, trying to make the website more like a newspaper." He's also working towards writing about "more things going on in other neighborhoods."

And what about his reporting style? "I'm a little nosy," he admits, "but I try not to be. I like to make people laugh."

So there you have it! Dig the Gazette and what you see? Send Shag a tele and see if you can add your flare to his paper!

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

We celebrated Black History Month in March, and now May is Asian Pacific Heritage MonthClick here to learn about third-party website links

What's the historical stuff behind it? Well, in 1976, the president of the Organization of Chinese American Women, Jeanne Jew Click here to learn about third-party website links, was worried that Asian Pacific Americans weren't being included in our country's bicentennial celebration Click here to learn about third-party website links. She worked hard to change that…and BAM! On October 5, 1978, President Jimmy Carter Click here to learn about third-party website links declared the first 10 days of May Asian Pacific Heritage Week!

Fast forward 14 years, and President George H. W. Bush Click here to learn about third-party website links proclaimed May as the official Asian Pacific Heritage Month. He signed the bill into law on October 23, 1992. Woot!

Oh, if you're wondering to yourself, "Why May?", it's because two special things happened: The first Japanese arrived in the United States on May 7, 1843, and the Transcontinental railroad Click here to learn about third-party website links was finally finished on May 10, 1869 — most of the workers were Chinese immigrants Click here to learn about third-party website links.

So while we celebrate, there are some special people we should pay tribute to. Let's see…

There's Bruce Lee Click here to learn about third-party website links, known for being the most influential martial artist of the 20th century — not to mention a HUGE cultural icon. (Yes, I own the collectible figurines!) Then we have Chien-Shiung Wu Click here to learn about third-party website links, the "First Lady of Physics," who's known for her expertise in radioactivity Click here to learn about third-party website links and her work on the Manhattan Project Click here to learn about third-party website links.

Don't forget about architect Maya Lin Click here to learn about third-party website links, who designed and created the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Click here to learn about third-party website links and the Civil Rights Memorial Click here to learn about third-party website links.

And Tommy Kono Click here to learn about third-party website links, U.S. weightlifter, who won gold medals in the 1952 and 1956 Olympic Games. He also set world records in four different weightlifting classes! Now THAT'S muscle power!

What other special Asian Pacific Americans can you think of? And how are you celebrating this month?

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of haunted houses — I'm actually a pretty big scaredy cat. So no, I haven't explored RandyLH's haunted mansion. I already got a nice dose while taking a tour of the outside.

If you look closely at the fire on the gate, you'll see something just not quite…normal. Then when you walk in, you can't miss a spot that RandyLH calls "lost souls." And oh, take a look at the windows on the second floor — what I saw was more than enough to keep me outside!

Do you dare to enter? If you do, it's at your own risk!

Tell us what spooked you! And come on, don't say nothing scared ya! Someone or something is watching…

Island Boxing!

Not the real kind of boxing, silly! I'm talking about the red boxes that have been showing up all over the island. No, it's not an alien invasion — those things are actually fellow islanders trapped in a big red square!

If you've been struck by the red box syndrome, try changing your clothes! And if that doesn't work, send an email to:

support@stagecoachisland3.com

Tell them you've been red boxed, include your island name, and they'll fix it! No worries, we won't be boxed in for too long!

Also, Feather came up with a few random tidbits to share:

1. If you have a job, please post it if you'd like so everyone can see what you do!
2. The tax building is located at 46S 70E.
3. You can learn to build from the SI Realty building.

Other than that, don't forget today is Cinco De Mayo — the day that celebrates Mexican heritage and pride! Read more about it right hereClick here to learn about third-party website links

About me:

On quiet afternoons on the island, I find new islanders and show them around. Almost every Friday night some friends that I've had for years meet up with me, and we can chat for hours without getting bored. I enjoy "Simming" homes, so drop me a gram if you'd like any help on a build!

Best Island Memory:

I can remember my first journey around the island like it was yesterday. It was on June 21, 2007, I met so many friendly islanders that day who showed me all of the important locations. Very few of them still come online, but I've also made many new friends through the years of being a Stagecoach citizen.
