The "Member Spotlight" Is Here!

Send a comment to Cassie

New to the island? Our "Member Spotlight" is a great way to get your name and friendly island face known! It's a brand new feature we're adding to the Community site, and we want YOU to help us vote for the first featured island celebrity!

Once a month, we will poll the island and see who you nominate to be the "Member in the Spotlight." All you have to suggest your candidates is post their names. After the votes are counted, the winning islanders will have their profile and photo featured, so everyone can see and get to know them!

Since this is the first month, we won't be polling just yet — but we do have something very special in store for you…

To kick off this awesome feature, we're going to start it off with a smashing BAM! by featuring the winner of this year's Summer Games that are taking place August 7th at 4pm PT. Yup! One lucky competitor will have his or her profile on the site for all islanders to see!

So post who you think will take home the title this year, and if you want a chance to win it — join in the competition!

Will that be islander be you? Come compete and let's find out!

Are You A Luger?

It's almost that time of year! The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Click here to learn about third-party website links are just around the corner, and to celebrate, Carmsis built an awesome race track in Olympic Valley at 12S 72W!

Carmsis calls it "The Luge," Click here to learn about third-party website links and for those who don't know what that is, it's a style of sled racing! The people who compete in it are called "lugers." It's a lot like bobsledding, except instead of a few people riding INSIDE protected canoe-shaped bobsleds (called "bobs"), one or two lugers ride ON TOP OF a small sled that's not much bigger than a few skateboards. Now that's one scary ride!

Don't believe me? It's actually one of the oldest of all winter sports! Click here to learn about third-party website links

These winter sports were a pretty big deal in the 2002 Winter Olympics Click here to learn about third-party website links, and for the first time it's on the Island! If you have some time and want to get a taste of being in the Olympics, take "The Luge" for a spin, island style!

P.S. If you need a place to stay, check into the decked out, cozy cabins right next to the luge track, and don't forget to take a dip in the warm Jacuzzi® Click here to learn about third-party website links!

Architectural Road Block

...AKA "The Island Wall." If you've taken a summer trip to Isla Del Sol, you may have spotted a huge building spanning across the street and through two plots of land at 138S 91W.

Yes, SuperRichguy built a ginormous structure that bridges his poshly decorated home and his office (they are located on opposite sides of the street) with a hallway. The part that catches most peoples' attention is the fact that this hallway runs across Sandias Drive and Rose Bud Lane.

What does this mean, you say? It means a road block! Traffic jam! Congestion!

OK…maybe not that bad. But just a heads up in case you travel down Rose Bud Lane — don't be alarmed when you pass under his hallway bridge.

It's got some personality and flare, so check it out!

Got Ceremonies?

Just wanted to give a quick update: Some of you have probably already figured out that the day and night cycle is…well, a little off. We're working on it, but hey, look on the bright side — it kind of keeps the island mystery alive!

Anyhow, I wanted to introduce an awesome public spot at 155S 105W. Thanks to Baxterboy234, if you're interested in hosting a ceremony at a gorgeous, outdoor space with decorations and lights — this is it!

Check it out!

Ooh La La...Look What I Found!

Well, I didn't really find it on my own — somebody showed me. But if you’re headed to the Old Church located at 153S 103W to check out the hidden teleports, be on the lookout for anything weird that catches your eye!

Yup, there are "things" hidden all over the church grounds, so make sure to search twice as hard wherever you explore, because you never know what you're going to find...

If you're in the hunt, share what you've discovered! Let's see who uncovers the most mystery secrets!

House of De Fishes

The House of de Fishes is brought to you by our very own Miya, and proudly stands in Sapphire Springs at 69S 177E!

It's Miya's House of de Fishes! (click for larger image in a new window)

Just take a look at the photos — I'm sure you can probably tell this place is pretty awesome! If you're really quiet and patient, you'll even catch a glimpse of a mermaid off in the distance!   *Shhh....*

Be quiet and patient... (click for larger image in a new window) ...and you might just spot a mermaid! (click for larger image in a new window)

But beware: If you try to sneak in through the front door, you'll get launched off into the far distance! I'm not sure why, but my guess is that they don't want the itty bitty fishies scared from all the visiting islanders peeping in.

There are lots of cool things and habitats in the House of Fishes, so make sure to take your time and browse through it. There's even lots of cool stuff on the roof too – don't miss out and check it out! I found a big exotic pink goldfish den!

Let us know what you find in there!

P.S. If you want to build your own aquarium, you might be able to! Gotta dream? Write a story on what that is and go here to check out the details!

Update on Credit Payment Stuff!

For those of you who have 'grammed me about the credit card payment stuff, it's being worked on so no worries! We've got some peeps fixing the issue so everything should be A-Ok soon! If you're still having problems making payments, just shoot me a tele.

Other than that, remember Dennis the MenaceClick here to learn about third-party website links Well, we've got one of our own on the island! Okay, maybe not quite as bad. But just look at the awesome photos below — the priceless moments were all captured!

Yup, lostpoet has been trapping islanders in blocks and stuff, so beware when visiting his home! I got launched into island space 3 times! Luckily Genie7 finally got lostpoet back though...

*silently cheering*

Kidding, kidding…he's not a menace at all. In fact, lostpoet's more like a really awesome inventor with a hobby of caging his friends (sometimes). *wink*

Check out his pool table if you haven't seen it — the design's pretty sweet if ya ask me! What do you think?

New Park, More Mystery!

If you've been following the comments on the last post about the Old Church, then you know that there is a new park in Sapphire Springs called the Sapphire County Park! It's located at 54S 183E, so swing by and check it out! It's a creation by Kongfu Masta, and even though it's still in the works, there are a few cute flower and sight-seeing spots. All you have to do is follow the signs!

But you know...the most bizarre thing of all is that this new park happens to be one of the hidden teleports of the Old Church — what does that mean? What's the mystery behind it?

I can't give away any more clues or teleports from the Old Church, but I will say this: There are a lot more hidden secrets to that church than meets the eye!

Have you found anything new? Share!

The Old Mystery

Hope everyone had an awesome long weekend and some fun in the sun! It's been pretty hot lately, so hopefully you all have been able to stay cool on the island too.

If you haven't heard, there's been some buzz about a mysterious church with hidden teleports to "the ends of the earth." And simgirl111, upon discovering the old church on Isla Del Sol, set out with me on an itty bitty expedition to explore it with my fellow islanders.

I don't want to give anything away, but here's the hint that simgirl111 gave me: "Leave no stone unturned!"

The pics below can also give you some clues, good luck!

P.S. Taxes are due (I got that little icon thingy on my screen the other day) so hurry to the SIRS building to take care of 'em soon!

Happy Fireworks Day!

Since it's July 4th, all of us will be gallivanting around the island and enjoying the holiday so we won't be posting for the next few days. Fear not, we'll be back on Monday, and in the mean time...

We'd like to wish you a BIG Happy July 4th weekend from the whole team!

P.S. You don't have to wait 'til July 4th to see fireworks on the island– we have them every night at 8pm PT. Come check out a show over by the Welcome Center and have a blast on your long weekend!

About me:

On quiet afternoons on the island, I find new islanders and show them around. Almost every Friday night some friends that I've had for years meet up with me, and we can chat for hours without getting bored. I enjoy "Simming" homes, so drop me a gram if you'd like any help on a build!

Best Island Memory:

I can remember my first journey around the island like it was yesterday. It was on June 21, 2007, I met so many friendly islanders that day who showed me all of the important locations. Very few of them still come online, but I've also made many new friends through the years of being a Stagecoach citizen.
