You know, we talk a lot about Isla Del Sol, Olympic Valley, and even Sapphire Spring's builds, but Desert Hollow deserves some island loving too! And actually, all sorts of fun and creative stores, shops and homes have been popping up there!

Just to give you a peek of its awesomeness, here's a cool hang out spot Donna made — it's super welcoming and homey! As soon as you step through the front door, you're greeted with a busy and bustling cafe, complete with a hostess and a piano player. There's even a little dance floor for all you islanders to boogie down! (Yeah, I just used the word "boogie," but oh well, I'm not changing it.) If it gets a little stuffy inside, all you have to do is step out onto the patio area and voila! Fresh air, burgers and lounge chairs. Nice.

Donna's is also filled with all sorts of rooms and a few floors for islanders to explore. Check it out at 151s 146e — you'll love the hospitality and activities happening inside.

What are you waiting for? I'm heading over to grab a table...see ya there!

Rockin' The Island With Creativity

| No Comments | Share : del.icio.us  Digg  Facebook  MySpace

Ahoy! I'm sure you islanders have checked out the recent builds plopping on the island — they're amazing! (And in case you're wondering, I still get telegrams complimenting RandyLH and Darthvader for their creativity in their space creations!) So in honor of all the cool builds happening, we're going to highlight a few of the new ones — if you've spotted some that you think are awesome, post 'em here and share with the community!

Check 'em out! There's the flashing red house, which, well, is exactly what it is: a red house. Then there's the island's fire and ice towers — it's even decorated with a blue planet. We've also got a pretty cozy barn that's worth throwing into the mix!

My favorite, though, is a house that hawkeyefan22 built for February, highlighting Valentine's Day. He not only put in plaques that gave a shout out to his islanders, but he also collected quotes from everyone (and I mean everyone) — like Genie7, poet, trev22, John Lennon, me, and so many others — and posted them up onto hearts, decorating the walls on the inside. It's really worth checking out, so pop in and take a walk at the "Hearts of Fame" at 8N 49W!

Island Urban Legends

| 12 Comments | Share : del.icio.us  Digg  Facebook  MySpace

Yep, that's right! We're here to bust some of the myths we've heard buzzing about the island! I mean, you can hear it right here from the island source — what better way to solve these mysteries?

Here they are:

Myth: James Hume talks to himself.
Well, technically he talks to whomever is in his house, so it's not like he's just standing there mumbling to himself. Don't know who Hume is? Well, you'll have to embark on the Island Quest and find out for yourself who the mystery man is!

Myth: Nessie launches secret attacks on the Quest takers!
Of course not! Nessie can't even hurt a fly — she's way too chill to do stuff like that. Besides, she doesn't travel much, so most likely if you're having problems on the Quest — you're just going to have to shoot an email to support@stagecoachisland3.com and let them know. Nessie is innocent! (Though I do suspect she's the one that's been snagging those island cupcakes...)

Myth: Fireworks happen on odd number dates only
False! Fireworks happen every night at 8pm PT. Check 'em out...they're pretty awesome to watch.

Myth: If I order a T-shirt, you guys are going to make me sign up for something.
Umm...that would be a big fat NO. Not only is the T-shirt free, no one will make you sign up for anything or ask you for any personal information. The only thing they need is the addy to send the T-shirt to — I mean, how else are we going to get it to you, right?

Have you heard of or know about an island urban legend? Are you curious about something you think is true, but you're not quite sure about the island? Post it below and we'll either yea it, or nay it! Bring on the myths!

Space -- The New Island Frontier!

OK, you guys have seen the island Observatory Space Center right? What you might not have known is that you can teleport through the "stargate" found at the official space museum in Isla Del Sol!

It's located on 160S 90W — and it's full of scientific exploration! Just take a look at the pics! There are rockets, solar panels, the famous "stargate" that will take you to the island observatory space center, and even a conservatory viewing section at the tippy top of the building! Not to mention there are a few computers for you to study on if you need more info....

Also, when you go to the second floor, you can even find the solar system Click here to learn about third-party website links in action! Just go take a peek yourself and scroll over the planets to learn their names.

The Space Center's 2nd floor (click for larger image in a new window) Space Center Saturn (click for larger image in a new window)

There are 8 planets total (there used to be 9 when Pluto was one of 'em) and they are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune - each one very different from the next in color and everything else. Some even have moons of their own that orbit around them!

Here are some fun facts:

  • Even though Saturn is the second largest planet Click here to learn about third-party website links, it's also the lightest! That means it can technically float on water! Well, only if there was a swimming pool big enough for it...
  • Pluto used to be a planet in the solar system, now it's known as a "dwarf planet." Strange huh?
  • Jupiter is the largest planet, but because it spins super duper fast — a day on it lasts only 9 hours and 55 minutes. Yikes!

In the mean time, I'll just be drifting through space, eating astronaut ice cream Click here to learn about third-party website links — kinda tastes like stale cotton candy — but hey, in space, it's all about the freeze-dried food. Yum! Have you tried eating any?

News Flash for 2/10 -- 6:00AM PT

| 2 Comments | Share : del.icio.us  Digg  Facebook  MySpace

Early this morning at 6:00AM PT (island time), we ran an update that lasted for about 20 minutes. Islanders who tried to log on at that time weren't able to get in world. It was a short 20 minutes, so it wasn't long before you were able to pop back in. We apologize for any inconvenience!

If you've been experiencing issues while buying new fashions at GCK, this morning's update has fixed it. Happy shopping!

Also, in the future we'll also be doing some more updates to make the island even cooler and better!

…and that concludes our news flash for today.

Island In The Sky

| No Comments | Share : del.icio.us  Digg  Facebook  MySpace

Some of you may have noticed an island floating in the sky...I actually got a tip to check it out. If you're wondering why it looks awfully close to all the Quest spots, well that's because it's totally identical.

OK, not identical, but whoever made it (still a mystery!) was able to take all the Quest pieces and throw them together in one island mess in the sky! It's pretty neato, so if you're around 78S 155E, stop 'up and check it out. You have to fly up pretty high though, and it's easy to miss...but hey, if you can't find it, you can always embark on the Quest and find the items on your own treasure adventure!

If you want to join in on the Quest and see what the buzz behind James Hume and Black Bart is, be sure to read this and learn about how it works!

Other than that, hope you guys are loving the new hairstyles — let us know what you think of them!

P.S. Don't forget to nominate your super island saver for the new Member Spotlight!

It's Black History Month...Woot!

| 1 Comment | Share : del.icio.us  Digg  Facebook  MySpace

February is a special month. I mean, I know there's Valentine's Day and all, but did you know that this is the month we honor African American heritage? It's Black History Month Click here to learn about third-party website links, and it was all started in 1926 by Carter G. WoodsonClick here to learn about third-party website links

We're talking about all the influential historical leaders and figures who made our world what it is today. We even inaugurated our first African American president Click here to learn about third-party website links — we are living history!

Ok...so let's hop on that magic school bus for a tiny history trip, yea?

One of my favorite events I learned about is Frederick Douglass becoming the very first African-American nominated to be a Vice Presidential candidate in 1872. He ran with Victoria Woodhull Click here to learn about third-party website links, the first woman to run for President of the United States. That campaign was a huge historical milestone in Black (and Women's) history — look how far we've come!

Then there's George Washington Carver Click here to learn about third-party website links — an agricultural genius who won the Spingarn Medal Click here to learn about third-party website links in 1923. And of course, Dr. Martin Luther King, whose "I Have A Dream" speech still lives in all of us today. I mean, he has a national holiday dedicated to him!

Oh! And we can't forget sports...how about Jackie RobinsonClick here to learn about third-party website links In 1947 he became the first African American player in Major League Baseball's modern era!

That's just a few of the tons of African Americans to celebrate and honor! There are so many more and so much more to learn — and this month is a just a tiny reminder of the rich history that's made our country what it is today.

Tell us what you know and have learned about Black History Month here, and see which islander can lay down those facts!

It's the Munchkins!

| No Comments | Share : del.icio.us  Digg  Facebook  MySpace

They're here! Those little itty-bitty people that live in Oz are roaming the island! They've set up camp on a little spot right off of the Yellow Brick Road...and they only have 3 tiny houses for all of them to fit into!

RandyLH and Darthvader's awesome Wizard of Oz theme has basically just swept through the island — it's like Oz fever everywhere! The Munchkins kind of remind me of the Mushroom people at his Mushroom Rail Station on Isla Del Sol (he's added stuff there too, so be sure to take a peek!)

If you haven't seen either of these spots, be sure to go and follow the Yellow Brick Road. I'm sure the Munchkins will give you a hand if you get lost!
