Important Info About ATMs

Now that Wachovia is officially part of Wells Fargo, one of the first changes you'll experience is how much easier it is to access your account. Why? Because you now have access to over 12,000 combined ATMs all over the country that you can use to withdraw cash without incurring any access fees!

010709-WachoviaATMs.jpgDo you realize that if you stacked our 12,000 ATMS on top of one another, it would reach from here to the moon?!? Honestly, I just made that up. But 12,000 ATMs, now that's a lot of locations! (And that doesn't even count the ATMs in our educational online world, Stagecoach Island!)

Seriously, if you used a different ATM every day, it would take you over 32 years to get to each one! For every calorie Michael Phelps consumes Click here to learn about third-party website links each day, we've got an ATM for you!

Maybe the best thing about having so many ATMs at your disposal is the convenience. Think about it: 24/7 you now have 12,000 locations to make a withdrawal and check your account balance – and you won't pay any access fees!

010709-WellsFargoATMs.jpgOne important thing you should keep in mind: There are still a lot of whos-its and whats-its that need to get synched up between our two companies. So for now, if you need any in-branch services or additional ATM functionalities – like making deposits and fund transfers – remember to keep going to the financial centers where you have your account and the ATMs you've always used! You still have full access there.

Otherwise, if you're a current Wells Fargo customer, stop in and use a Wachovia ATM Click here to learn about third-party website links whenever you like. And if you're a Wachovia customer, feel free to use any Wells Fargo ATM, anytime.

I was just thinking of using a Wachovia ATM machine not far from where one of my best friends lives. I guess on my next visit I will drop by and use my Wells Fargo Gold Check Card for a withdrawal. If the branch is open, I will drop by to make a payment towards my Wachovia Student Loan (with cash). I will try experience Wachovia's #1 Customer Service Satisfaction. I'll be the judge of that!

what about morgages

If you want to lose some business to BB&T in Winston-Salem, then feel free to move Wachovia's Wealth Management Division to Charlotte. Just a suggestion...

Thanks for the info on the ATM's but in Westchester ATM's and Financial insitution a few and far between, are there any plans to add ATM's to the Bronx and Westchester, so I don't have to use other ATM's and incur fees by not only that bank but Wachovia/Wells Fargo?

hey Matt, You may have already answered this somewhere but I have a question. Can you deposit checks into a Wachovia ATM if you have Wells Fargo account? thanks!!

Aww... so that means I (a Wells Fargo customer) can't deposit at Wachovia ATMs yet. Well, as long as it's all in the integration pipeline, that's alright with me, but *nudge* I was sure looking forward to the added convenience and it'd be nice to have that soon (keep us posted)! Thanks for the update though!

can we deposit money in Wachovia ATMs for deposit into Wells Fargo accounts?

the Wachovia ATM at 85th and Broadway in NYC has had a malfunctioning card slot for at least 6 months. I mentioned it to them, they don't care. can you get it fixed?

Matt:
I am a little concerned about the merger. I have had bad experiences with Wells Fargo before and was wondering a few things...
1. Is Wells Fargo going to completely take over Wachovia or is the customer service going to stay Wachovia?
2. If I write a check to a friend or relative and they go to MY bank (now Wells Fargo) to cash it, will Wells Fargo charge them a $5 fee for cashing my check written on MY account? They have done this to me in the past.
Thank you for allowing me to ask my questions concerning this merger. I have so many reservations about it and am not quite sure if I am ready to be part of Wells Fargo. Please help put my mind at ease.
~VERY Concerned Wachovia Customer~

My son-in-law, who banks at Wells Fargo, has just relocated to Columbus, Mississippi, for two years. To his surprise, there is no Wells Fargo bank anywhere nearby. There is, apparently, a Wachovia, however. Will all branches of Wachovia become Wells Fargo banks? The woman he spoke with there seemed to think not. If so, can you tell me how long before the change-over? He would prefer not to change banks.

How do i log back into my wachovia online banking acct.? im trying and it will not allow me..it keeps coming up with the message about wachovia and wells fargo being one -- please advise i need to pay my bills.

Will there still be the way to go savings this is a great program it is how i paid for xmas this year

Hey Matt,
Great Blog, keep up the good work and I like the humor injections, keeps things lite and rolling along.

Best of everything in the New Year.

One of the things I love about my Wachovia account is no ATM fees. Even if using someone else's ATM machine.

Now 12,000 ATM is a slot of ATM's, but it's still not everywhere. Is Wells Fargo going to continue the "No ATM fee" tradition"?

@s_r: When you log in, look near the bottom of the page for a "Continue" button. Wells Fargo often puts up those sort of messages to advise customers of announcements and advertisements. Hope you read this in time! :)

Tried to use an ATM at a Wachovia in Laurinburg, NC today. The ATMs were both shut down! Not a very good start. Moved to Laurinburg from Texas last August and have anxiously been waiting for this merger as I am extremely happy with Wells Fargo and did not want to change banks. What's up?

I have a Wells Fargo account and a Wachovia account. Should I take any steps to ensure these are linked? Or will they remain separate accounts in one Bank? For how long will FDIC continue to cover my accounts, which combined will exceed the limit? The local bank personnel are completely uninformed and unable to help me. Thank you.

I love the integration. In the future, will we (Wells Fargo) customers be able to make deposits at Wachovia ATMs?

I used a Wachovia ATM this morning in NJ and only when I checked my wallet in NYC did I realize that the ATM gave me someone elses card back. The bank is helping me exchange the cards, but it will make me check my card more carefully next time. I don't understand how it could have happened.

@J.A. Santes - Glad to here there's a convenient Wachovia ATM for you to take advantage of. But remember, right now, you will have to continue to use your regular Wells branch for deposits until we get our two systems synced up!

the wachovia golf tourny is a pretty big deal in the golf world and here in charlotte! i believe that if wells abondons this event they make a big mistake! what better way, here in the southeast, to let the people know that wells is not abandoning our part of the country than to title the tourney "WACHOVIA/WELLS FARGO" IN 2009 AND GO FORWARD IN 2010 WITH THE "WELLS FARGO". IT WILL ENDEAR YOU TO MANY,MANY OF THE OLD WACHOVIA CUSTOMERS! OTHERWISE all the good feelings that people had about wachovia will have gone west. NOT GOOD!

@Casey, Mike Mayer and Zachary - Since you all asked similar questions, thought I'd respond to all. For right now, if you are a Wachovia customer all you can do is make withdrawals from Wells Fargo ATMs - and vice versa for Wells customers. We're hard at work integrating our systems to get to a point where you'll be able to make deposits at all of our ATMs and branches. When that functionality goes live, I can guarantee a blog post about it right here.

@Phyllis Bateman - Most likely if there is no Wells branch in the area, we will almost certainly keep the Wachovia branch open (rebranded as Wells Fargo) since we don't want to negatively impact all the great folks in Columbus, Miss. For now, he can use the ATM there to get out cash and check his balance.

@Charlie A - Sorry to hear that you haven't been able to get the answers you need. As far as your accounts, for now they are completely separate since we are operating as two different companies while we work on our integration efforts. I also checked on your question about FDIC coverage and here's the skinny: The FDIC Standard Maximum Deposit Insurance Amount (SMDIA) for deposits has been increased to $250,000 per depositor per insured financial institution through December 31, 2009. In addition, both Wells Fargo and Wachovia are participating in the FDIC’s Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program to provide an unlimited FDIC guarantee on funds deposited in non interest-bearing checking accounts through December 31, 2009.

hi matt,
what is your forecasted timeline for the mortgage software updates? several of my clients here in alabama have home loans with wells fargo I am sure they would be glad to know when they can go into an old wachovia location to pay their wells fargo mortgage. can you guys put a rush on that, the convenience would be awesome! glad to see wells in the southeast. I moved to alabama from cali and it is a welcomed familiar brand! makes me think im back on the west coast! haha!

Are you able to comment on the technology approach of Wells Fargo when it comes to check imaging technology within their ATM's? Currently, I only know of one Wachovia ATM that accepts and processes check images as deposits and prints the check image on the ATM receipt. I find this to be very valuable resource but I only know of the one at the main branch in Charlotte. A certain competitor here in Charlotte has the imaging technology in almost all of their ATM's. Can you shed any light on any of this?

Will Wells Fargo change all Wachovia signs to say Wells Fargo.....

Are there any international ATMs I can use fee-free with my Wachovia ATM? In other words, does Wells Fargo/Wachovia have any international partners in France or the Czech Republic?

About New International ATM fees:Prepare your self for your balance decreasing rapidly.
I became a Wachovia customer in 2008 (before any change was on the radar) and then moved to Colombia and have continued to use my card to withdraw here. Wachovias intl fees are (were) the best out there.. fee was 2% of whatever amount withdrawaled AND those amount were REFUNDED at the end of the month, so bascially NO fee at all.

I had a not so pleasant surprise in Feb this year upon seeing my fees of 15-30 CENTS for each withdrawal jumped to the long standing Wells rate of 5 DOLLARS per withdrawal regardless of amount.

From 2% of withdrawal and refunded (so, free) into
$5 flat fee per withdrawal.

not exactly integrating the better of the two. Took all my money out and into HSBC Direct and will only maybe consider the new wachovia/wells domestically, but not if wells' fees are used.

I'm a target employee and Wells Fargo makes my paychecks. i dont have a wells fargo in my area but numerous wachovia banks. if i want to cash my check can i take it to wachovia and cash it?

HOW DO I OPEN UP ON LINE BANKING WITH WACHOVIA

So you've probably answered this in response to another question, but please enlighten me again. If i recieve a check from Wells Fargo, can i cash is at a Wachovia?

Hey Sara, do you have an account at Wachovia? If so, you can cash the check at any Wachovia location. However, if you only have a Wells Fargo account, you can't cash the check at a Wachovia store. Stay tuned for updates on when your state will convert.

Are there any international ATMs I can use fee-free with my Wachovia ATM? In other words, does Wells Fargo/Wachovia have any international partners in France ou Spain??

@ Laura, Wells Fargo doesn't have any international partners in Europe. However, you do get two free international ATM withdrawals a year. After that, a $5 flat fee is charged for international ATM withdrawals. Be aware that the ATMs you are using might charge a fee, too. Safe travels.

I have been in Italy travelling for three days and I still have not found an ATM network supported by Wells Fargo. I travel all over the world and this is the first time I have not been able to
access cash.

any news on when the ATM integration between Wells and Wachovia is going to happen? I've had a Wells Fargo acct for ~3 years and eagerly await the day I can deposit to my acct out here in Pennsylvania
