Sorry, Mr. Bennett, My Heart's Still in San Francisco

Wells Fargo and Wachovia have joined together — you know that. So we here at the Wells Fargo-Wachovia Blog thought it'd be kind of nice to spotlight some of the many cities from coast to coast where all of our team members will continue to work with and help you! Last week Matt gave you his own personal "tour" of his town — and home base of Wachovia — Charlotte, North Carolina. Today, I get to share mine!

One of San Fran's famous cable cars (Click for larger image in a new window)I'll start with a question: What do you think of when you hear San Francisco? If I had to guess, I'd probably say the Golden Gate Bridge Click here to learn about third-party website links, Alcatraz Click here to learn about third-party website links, Fisherman's Wharf, Victorian architecture Click here to learn about third-party website links, cable cars, the Giants Click here to learn about third-party website links, the 49ers Click here to learn about third-party website links, the gold rush Click here to learn about third-party website links...or maybe even Rice-a-RoniClick here to learn about third-party website links

I could take you to all those places, or you could visit the San Francisco Tourism Bureau Click here to learn about third-party website links, or this could happen....

Last night at the dinner table, my 14-year old daughter asked me how my day was. I replied, "Great!" (It was!) But, I said, I needed to write a post introducing all of you to San Francisco. I mentioned I was thinking about sharing some of the more "hidden attractions" rather than the "postcard attractions." She immediately grabbed a pen and paper to record our ideas, and my son (11 years old) proceeded to reenact any of the attractions he could — that's just how they think. Meanwhile, my husband (no age need be cited) wanted me to mention all the great restaurants in the city, but that list would be endless.

So now you know our dinner table. Here then, are some of those lesser known places my family thought you shouldn't miss! Follow along...

Ann Marie Quinn: A one-woman solution to the Bay Bridge earthquake retrofitThe first year ('85) I worked in SF, I was located a block off Union SquareClick here to learn about third-party website links One warm summer day (you're not buying that are you? Click here to learn about third-party website links) I ventured to the square and walking right beside me were two ladies Click here to learn about third-party website links garnering many a photo. I've seen the Brown twins many times over the years, and recently thought I spied a couple of impersonators.

At the dinner table my husband reminded us that the first time he saw the twins he said to them, "Did anyone ever tell you that you look alike?" This is the wit I live with.

But back to the tour! In December 2007, the four of us ventured into the city for dinner, and headed to the Tonga RoomClick here to learn about third-party website links I mean really, why fly to Tahiti when you can eat here? The kids loved it...especially the rain, the frou-frou drink umbrellas and the band, located on a floating barge!

After dinner we took a cable car Click here to learn about third-party website links to Ghirardelli Square Click here to learn about third-party website links for a chocolate sundae. Walking along Fisherman's Wharf really got the blood flowing, but not because of the brisk night air and walk. Meet the BushmanClick here to learn about third-party website links I think my husband almost came out of his skin!

The Stagecoach in the San Francisco Wells Fargo museum (Click for larger image in a new window)Okay, our family hasn't actually made it to the Musee Mechanique Click here to learn about third-party website links yet, but it really deserves to be on this list. The truth is, someone in the family is afraid of clowns, so it'll have to wait.

When you make your way through the city, chances are you'll find many a heart Click here to learn about third-party website links — a city-wide art installation to benefit the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. Wells Fargo's sponsored heart (see our slideshow below) features hundreds of commemorative gold coins, referencing our history.

As far as restaurants go, there are a few classics not to miss: my favorites are the Tadich Grill Click here to learn about third-party website links and Sam's GrillClick here to learn about third-party website links But no matter what your favorite food, you'll find it here Click here to learn about third-party website links in San Francisco.

Well, that's it...my brief tour of my San FranciscoClick here to learn about third-party website links Hmm, maybe I need to get out a little more. In any case, I hope you've enjoyed getting to know the city — and me — just a little better!

do you have a site for homes that are in forclosures

what is this nonsense?

you all said this site would be for conveying merger information to clients of the respective banks -- it appears to have morphed into some sort of Chamber of Commerce effort?!?!?

where's the merger info? you could just say: (i) use Wells or Wachovia ATMs as you please, (ii) otherwise there's nothing to say outside of it's a long integration process and we'll let you knoow something when it happens.

I mean this "blog" is a joke.

(I'm sure this won't make it through the screener)

so yeah... Mallard, get over it. if you just want the basic info, go to the WellsFargo or Wachovia website. This is a blog... it's going to have more than one sentence saying you can go to an ATM.

@Sharon - My name is Doug and I work behind the scenes with the blog team. To answer your question, we do not have a site that lists homes that are in foreclosure.

I was horrified today to learn that Wells Fargo is planning an "expensive" junket to Las Vegas after receiving a bailout! What kind of ridiculous attitude is that? I have a mortgage with Wells Fargo and I bank with Wachovia but unless this kind of insane spending stops, I'll take my business elsewhere!

Shocked in Jacksonville, FL

The article in today's paper about the Wells Fargo Corporate Junket in Las Vegas concerns me greatly. I am seriously considering moving to a different bank.

I've been a loyal Wachovia customer since 1984. I've trusted them with my money and have always had great success. I am disgusted to know that they are now affiliated with a company that has no problem spending tax payers dollars on extravagant trips on our dime. Thanks but no thanks. I'm moving my money elsewhere.

Vegas Planned trip and our money......Its time to change banks if they are really this bold in spending like this....No wonder they needed a bailout. I am changing banks.

Asking questions about Gov. restructure of a mortgage has been futile.
Peaole at branches give an 800#.So-called mortgage specilists seem to only be concerned with "selling" a refi.Wachovia is still in controll of the mortgage
on my home and I don't see these banks giving ANY info
or even a response to my
inquiries.Time to layer up soon.

What is going to happen to the Wachovia Securities locations? Are they changing to Wells Fargo Securities?
