It's been almost two months since the news broke that Wachovia Securities would change to Wells Fargo Advisors. And while we highlighted the name change here on the blog back in early March, it's now official.
Clearly what makes this news so exciting is that it marks the first legacy Wachovia business to begin operating under the Wells Fargo name. If you are a Wachovia Securities customer you will now begin to see the Wells Fargo Advisors name on marketing materials and your broker's business card, with signage changes coming later in the year.
While news of the name change is significant, it doesn't affect the way you use your Wachovia Securities account — anything like that will be communicated to you directly either by your broker, our Web site or via the mail.
Of course, if you have questions now about your account, call (800) 359-9297.
We'll have the official press release on the name change up here on Monday. And as always, keep checking back here for updates on the integration!
This is strange. You go to the Wachovia Securities website and there is a banner that says the new name is Wells Fargo Advisors. Yet, the website still says Wachovia Securities, and the offices are not changing signs until later this year.
Wouldn't it have made more since to not reveal the name change until everything was ready to change (office signs, website, etc)?
I'm convinced Wells Fargo has no idea how to complete a merger.
I think that Anonymous is the same person that calls sports-talk radio and says that they could've made those free throws at the end of the game.
What will happen to the Wachovia Securities Brokerage houses? Will they turn into Wells Fargo Bank?
I live in Louisville, KY where there are few Wachovia brokerage firms but no Wachovia or Wells Fargo banks. I know WFB generally has brokers inside the bank locations. I would like to see a WFB bank in Louisville.
When should we expect this announcement?
I went from AG Edwards to
Wachovia & now Wells Fargo!
Needless to say I DO NOT like all these changes in less than two years. I hope
that these changes will stay
I lost my broker and am not
to happy about that - and
of course now you are going
to change again.
I am a new client, transferring from Merrill Lynch. I am not happy with format, content, of some of the data available to me. My Visa balance is automatically deducted each month - yet I receive by snail mail a separate statement, complete with payment coupon and return envelope! The monthly account report which I get electronically is hard to read, hard to follow, and duplicative - e.g. why list activities by type, including date, and then re-list the same activities again by date? I think you need to look at all your client reporting systems with the idea of simplification.
