Two more states announced for integration: Texas and Kansas

Texas and Kansas customers, you're next!

Wachovia financial centers in Texas and Kansas will become Wells Fargo banking stores in July. These two states follow Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois and Nevada in integrating Wachovia financial centers into Wells Fargo banking stores.

Remember: Until July it's business as usual for our Texas and Kansas customers, and you should all continue banking where you do today.

So what will happen in Texas? The consolidation of Wachovia financial centers and team members into Wells Fargo will result in Texas having more than 700 Wells Fargo banking stores — the largest retail banking network in the Lone Star State!

And in Kansas? Wachovia's eight financial centers will become Wells Fargo banking stores. This will result in five Wells Fargo banking stores in the Kansas City area, two in Wichita and one in Atchison.

As we announced previously, Wachovia's integration to Wells Fargo in the east and southeast is planned through 2011. Integration for business lines continues to progress. Wachovia Securities has changed its name to Wells Fargo Advisors, and Wachovia Mortgage has been integrated into Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.

And as always, stay tuned for additional information about the next states to convert!

So, does this mean that the Wachovia banks in Illinois will change to Wells Fargo before this July?

J. Mills, the Wachovia financial centers in Illinios will convert to Wells Fargo stores in March.

Has Wells thought of working on their marketing/branding to incorporate a new logo. The box with Wells Fargo seems kinda bland and with wachovia's waves a new logo with the stagecoach would be awesome. The recognition and differention especially with Wells and BoA being red its harder to tell the difference as in Wachovia versus BoA

The above list is only for Wachovia and Wells Fargo branches consolidating in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Here is a list of stores converting in San Antonio. I haven't come across lists for any other cities in Texas.

The San Antonio area branches slated to close are located at:

• 4727 Medical Drive;

• 7550 W IH-10;

• 4949 Rittiman Road;

• 6515 W. Loop 1604 N.

• 8700 Crownhill Blvd., and

• 1365 S. Main St. in Boerne.

I agree with modifying the Wells Fargo logo with incorporating Wachovia's waves for the reasons stated. Keep the Stagecoach with the waves would make it look more exciting as if it is moving forward, something great that would go well with the company's image.

Good to hear that there is a new deadline for the re-branding of the Wachovia branches here in Texas, knowing I will have access to the largest banking network in the state, everything being bigger in Texas!

Has anyone found a list for the Austin area? I just found an article that said 10 Wachovias would be closing and 22 rebranded as Wells Fargo.

I have a feeling which ones will be closed, as for example on one road there's 3 Wachovias in 10 miles (I think).

awesome sugg. peter they should update some how incorporate the Wachovia logo into the Wells Fargo.

Do you have any information as to any marketing /branding in Tenn, Miss, Arkansas, Florida or Georgia for 2010?

Thanks

Hey Lee, thanks for the questions. Unfortunately, I don't have any information on those states at this time.

I'm generally disappointed to how slow the integration has been going. I mean for people in New York & New Jersey will have to wait till to 2011 before getting an update website with more advanced features. My other banks show me in real-time my withdrawal and deposits of checks, i have to wait till the close of the day to see wachovia's. Your branches are losing market share since they have no advertising, since wells fargo isn't there yet. I've kept my accounts open, but started to shift my day to day banking to Chase, since they are innovating.

This might be covered elsewhere in this blog, but, in Texas, once the transition occurs in July, will I receive new checks, debit, and credit cards with Wells Fargo? And will my current agreement with Wachovia still stand as well (i.e. - I have a checking account with $5,000 bounce protection via a Wachovia credit card)? Thank you.

Justin, without knowing your specific situation, I would recommend you read through the "What To Expect" mailing that you will receive in advance of the integration. That will have all the specific details related to your accounts.

I was in Amarillo, Texas the other day and I stopped by the only Wachovia branch in the whole area and ofcourse they will be consolidating their store and closing that location. Here is my thought process. I know there is a Wells Fargo Branch down the road. This Wachovia location is a nice location and has a single lane drive-thru. I think Wells Fargo should keep this location open and integrate it into a Wells Fargo Commercial Only location or perhaps a Wells Fargo Mortgage Only location. Just wanted to pass this along to the Wells Fargo peeps in Amarillo, Texas area.

Do you know when we will be receiving our packets about the merger when our time is nearing for conversion? Will our account numbers be changing since Wells Fargo only uses 10 digit account numbers compared to Wachovia's 13 digit account numbers in Texas and since Wells Fargo out ranks Wachovia in Texas?

Hey Joey, the "What To Expect" packets for Texas and Kansas accounts should be mailed out on March 15. That packet will have relevant information about your specific accounts and what may or may not be changing.

Thanks for the quick reply.

WOOOHOO!

I haven't been keeping up with this blog, but I'm so excited to hear that our integration is coming in July. I live .5 mile from a Wells Fargo store, but as I am a heritage Wachovia customer, I have to drive 1.5 miles to conduct business.

I am, however, sad to see that one of the stores on Park Blvd is closing in Plano. The staff there were always friendly and helpful, and I sincerely hope that they can find positions elsewhere within Wells Fargo.

On a brighter note, I'm excited to get to use the Wells Fargo App for iPhone!

- Dallas, TX

So, if I'm reading the list correctly, the Frisco/121 WF location is being closed in favor of the Preston/Gaylord Wachovia location?

Too bad. That means the two branches closest to my house will have been closed within six months of each other (the other was in an in-store location, now there's just a ATM).

I understand the need, and the other location isn't much farther. Still, it's a slightly bigger hassle....

Does anyone have a consolidaton list for the Houston area?

Thanks.

Do we not have a Wells Fargo in Manhattan, KS?

Hi, Doug... Thanks for the information. However, I am a Texas Wachovia customer, it is now March 30 and I have not received a "What to Expect" package. Were they mailed-out on March 15?

@Mary, the "What to Expect" mailings were sent, but without knowing your specific account information it would be hard for me to speculate on why you have not received something. Did you open your account in Texas?

Hi, Doug

Yes, I opened my account in Texas. Do you have a point of contact?

Thanks.

Mary, Did you ever find out about the Houston/Galveston locations? My father has banked at Wachovia and needs a Location on I-45, near Bayou Vista. Thanks!!

Hi, Kathryn.. No word on Houston locations. I guess we'll know soon enough. July is just around the corner.

I live in Beaumont, Tx. we have not recieved any package that were mailed in March. The local banks don't know what is going on. From what I hear is the Beaumontt, Port Arthur area is going down to one or two bank and none of them will be in Beaumont. Someone need to get information out to what is happen. I'm sure that Wells Fargo had made a decision on whats is closing. Mr. Caldwell if Wells Fargo want to lose their customer then keep is in the dark and we will leave.

@Paul, thanks for your note. The "What to Expect" mailings for Texas will be sent 60-90 days before the integration occurs. With the conversion happing in July, you wouldn't have received it yet. As for what particular stores will remain open or close, I don't have that specific information, but you should check with the branch you use and they should be able to tell you.

I didn't receive the March "What to Expect" letter, but was provided this from the Customer Service Dept. It supposedly contains the contents of the mailing:

"We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your business and to
welcome you to Wells Fargo.
Your relationship is very important to us, so we are writing to give you
a preview of what to expect
when Wachovia becomes Wells Fargo in Texas later this year.

In July 2010, most Wachovia Bank accounts in Texas will convert
automatically to Wells Fargo.

You'll receive more information from us in the near future along with a
special mailing in June with details about enhancements or changes to your accounts and ervices. In some cases, there may
be no immediate changes at all. You may receive more than one letter
depending on the types of
accounts you have with Wachovia.

After the conversion, you'll have access to your new Wells Fargo accounts at more locations than
before... more than 730 banking locations and over 1,000 ATMs throughout
Texas.

We look forward to serving you as one company under the Wells Fargo name
and continuing the
tradition of outstanding personal service you?ve come to expect. We hope
you will continue to
think of Wells Fargo as your financial resource with the service, sound
financial guidance and
people to help you succeed financially."

Now that Kansa and Texas are last mergers left in the combine MARKET will you give us the future dates for Florida, GA, NC, SC, NYC and the EAST COAST!!!!

Doug Here it is 4 Jun 2010 and we have not recieved the mailing list that you said in april we would get 60-90 days in advance. The are converting us in July 2010. They are already putting the signs up and updateing the banks. They bank employess are in the dark on whats going to change on the account numbers. We are completely in the dark about what will actually happen to our account. Can you please research and let the Beaumont area Customers known what is going on. Thank you for your help in this matters. I'm already ready to switch to a credit union if this update does not go well. Paul

@Paul, the "What to Expect" mailings were sent to Texas and Kansas customers March 15. The Welcome mailings are going out June 11, 15 and 17. Was your account opened in Texas?

Has anyone in Texas received the "Welcome" mailing?

Yes Dough
I open my account many years ago in Texas, Back when the back was know as FB&T. As of 24 Jun 2010 we down here in the golden traingle have not recieve the "What to Expect" mailing as your prviouse blog stated. Even if we are in the last date 17 Jun 2010, we should have recieved it by know. Unless Wells Fargo mailed it 2nd class mail. I hope this is not how the bank is going to be run. I understand Wells Fargo already planned on loosing so many customer. But it is a shame that I been banking with the some bank and this is the third name change of bank and as for as I can see it is not going as promised.
Yours Truely
Paul Tetley

Dough

I don't mean the What to Expect mailing" I mean the welcome mailing.

Paul

@Paul, I am checking with the team responsible for the mailings and will let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

I did finally receive a "Welcome" package. It provides detaied transition information for each account.

My checking account transfers without many changes. Wells is not offering a comparable Way2Save product. I will close that account after the transition.

I heared from Roy Richards and he said the people that are using quicken to download account data will not be converted till last. I don't understand the reason for this because when you did the credit card there was no problems. Wells Fargo could at least sent a letter to the people informing of this. The more and more I hear about Wells Fargo, the less and less I want to keep banking with them. I think this is poor mamangement on Wells Fargo behalve. I don't beleive this is the biggest bank merge in the U.S. I believe there has been bigger bank merger than this one. This may be Wells Fargo biggest bank merger in history. But this is the third bank take over for me and it is the worst. Wells Fargo does not keep their customer inform and what is going on. I saw Mary L message and what she is saying is different than what the bank employees are telling us about "Way2Say" program. Don't know who to believe because I have not and will not get information from Wells Fargo until the last of the coversion.

Hi, Paul

Wells will have a Way2Save account. However, instead of a 5% interest rate it is 3% capped at $500. Balances over $500 will earn standard variable savings rate. No annual bonus. $500 at 3% is a whopping $15 per year. Not enough for me to have a separate account.

I'm thinking about closing down with Wells Fargo my four accounts and taking my business to someone else. I just really hope the new Wells Fargo stores do not get cluttered like Chase and Bank of America stores where I would have to wait fifteen minutes to be attended by a teller. I am not liking this way2save transfer ordeal either. I want wachovia back. :(
